New Book offers Practical Help
The Case Management Sourcebook provides answers and direction for health
care managers. JOLIET,IL. A book written by two Murer Group executives
offering practical and comprehensive help for health care managers is
being released this week by McGraw-Hill Publishers. The Case Management
Sourcebook, written by Cherilyn G. Murer and Lyndean Lenhoff Brick, offers
guidance for health care managers trying to lead their companies through
the complicated world of modern health care. The book provides a road
map for understanding, developing and implementing healthcare case management.
Complete with case studies and forms that can be used, the book offers
practical help for health care managers. Specifically, the book discusses
the importance of case management in the continuum of care, how good outcomes
positively affect reimbursement and different models of case management.
The book also details the legal, cost and expectation-in-care decisions
a management professional must make.
Murer, who earned her law degree from Northern Illinois University, is
president and CEO of the Joliet-based Murer Group. Murer has published
numerous articles, serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of several leading
healthcare magazines and has lectured across the world about the need
for advancement of quality and cost-effective health care. Murer, who
holds an appointment to the faculty of the University of Illinois College
of Medicine, recently presented the keynote address at the Annual Case
Management Society of America Convention in Anaheim, CA.
Brick, a graduate of the Ohio State University School of Law, is a recognized
expert in the field of health care law and serves as Senior Vice President
of the company. She has gained a national reputation for her work with
the interpretation and application of Medicare rules and regulations.
Brick, who has served as the contract administrative director of a national
system of health care facilities, is widely published in journals covering
the international health care industry.
The Murer Group represents more than 600 hospitals and health care systems,
including some of the nation's largest for-profit as well as not-for-profit
health care chains. Murer and Brick along with Michael A. Murer, J.D.,
Executive Vice President of the Murer Group, are also the authors of another
health care management book, detailing the reimbursement of the post acute
care continuum expected to be released in August. The second book, titled
The Post Acute Reimbursement Manual, is a valuable resource for those
in the fields of inpatient rehabilitation, home health care, outpatient
rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, long-term care hospitalization and
other facilities where patients are sent after a hospital stay. Murer,
of Lockport, Illinois, is married to Michael Murer and is the mother of
two grown children. Brick, of Joliet, Illinois, is married to Myron Brick
and is the mother of three young children.
